Divots Society Celebrates a Half Century of Existence
For so long, African Americans were excluded from daily activities the rest of society had the privilege of enjoying. The game of golf and membership into a golf club were no exception. However, that all changed Christmas of 1956 in Chicago when two friends, Curtis Washington and Carlos Stepto, decided to step outside the box and form the Divots Golf Club. The Divots, celebrating 50 years of existence this year, is not just a golf club for African American men. The Divots are an organization representing a community of successful, intelligent, and family oriented men who share common goals, interests, and a genuine love for the game of golf.
