As we make our approach, the airline pilot comes over the loud speaker. “Well folks,” he slowly drawls. “We’ve begun our descent and passengers on the right side of the plane will get a perfect view of the Grand Teton Mountains.” And there they are, as if on queue. I’m on my way to Jackson Hole.
Because the airport in Jackson Hole, Wyoming is the only commercial airport in the country located in the center of a national park, simply de-boarding leaves me amid a profusion of natural beauty. I stand on the tarmac, inhale the scent of pines and scan the incredible scenery.
Teton Pines Golf CourseJackson Hole maintains a permanent population of only 9,000 but its endless splendor and abundance of activity far surpass that humble statistic. Located 6,000 feet above sea level in the northwest region of Wyoming, it’s a world class resort destination providing access to two of the country’s most popular national parks—Grand Teton and Yellowstone— making it a year-round favorite of outdoor enthusiasts.
Warm Weather Pursuits
During summer the options are as vast as the jagged snowcapped peaks that keep vigil over the stunning valley. The sometimes tame— oftentimes wild—Snake River is an ideal venue for easy float trips or adrenaline-pumping white water rafting. It’s not unusual for stops to be made along the way so that visitors can observe the wildlife or set up a picnic, barbeque, or camp-out.
Many wildlife outfitters offer half day, full day and overnight adventures for the numerous fishing fanatics who visit the area every year. Spin casting or fly fishing lessons are designed to improve the prowess of the experienced, but are equally as valuable for the novice. To eliminate any sense of intimidation, some sessions are geared specifically for women.
Additionally, the extraordinary topography lends itself to amazing excursions, many involving hiking, climbing, and mountain biking. Easy day walks or organized heavy-duty backcountry treks are also available.

There are 1.3 billion people in china and another 1.2 billion in India. With such figures, one would expect the allure of these nations to lie in their bustling, chaotic, sensory overloaded cities. Most of the time, photographers come to India to capture multiple media: the blaring sounds, the masses of people, the luscious pinks and oranges, and the fast dances.
People come to Panama for the Canal. For its beaches and rainforests, for surfing and sportfishing and for all sorts of adventure-touring. Things like visiting Captain Henry Morgan’s ruins in Panama Viejo, the historic part of the capital city, or island-hopping in the Indian territory of San Blas always have their place in the tourist’s itinerary. If you come all the way to Panama, then you must certainly do these things, but I encourage you to explore some of the lesser-tapped origins of this Central American country as well.
