Most people look shocked when they hear you’re taking a trip to Iceland. They tilt their heads to the side and ask unabashedly why on earth you would willingly travel to a country with “ice” in its name? Misconceptions abound around this country rich in history and blessed with abundant natural wonders. But, that is precisely why it is one of the best-kept secrets of the mid-Atlantic.

Iceland has the uncanny knack of balancing the purest, most dramatic and unspoiled landscapes with the über-cool metropolitan scene of the most modern cities in the world. It is truly a country of extremes.
Within a stone’s throw of Reykjavik, the nation’s capital, you’ll be awed by rolling lava fields covered with deep green moss that rest against a backdrop of glacier-capped mountains. Travel a bit further, and you’ll find geothermal hot springs amidst golden meadows and sleeping volcanoes. And travel even further into Iceland’s interior and you may not want to come back.
