Porsche Panamera Turbo

What happens when an icon puts its legacy on the line in the interest of innovation? Well, if the icon in question is Porsche and the innovation is the Panamera Turbo, a four door fastback, than the result is a legacy secured for decades to come. The Panamera, Porsche’s first foray into the world of production four door sedans, is a tribute to the design prowess of the engineers who have made hearts race since 1939. It’s hard to believe, right? The Panamera Turbo weighs in at 4300lbs, stretches nearly 196 inches in length and can cradle four adults in pure comfort—but fiercely maintain the speed and agility of a Boxster or 911.  However unlike it’s legendary counterparts, The Panamera Turbo boasts a front-engine design, with a 4.8L twin turbo V8 that can propel the fastback from 0-60 in a blistering 4 seconds and from 0-100 in 9 seconds of raw adrenaline. Two turbochargers bless the Panamera with a maximum of 586lb-ft of torque and a graceful embrace of curves that would make Hugh Heffner rise to his feet with applause. While the traditional Porsche cabin may be a bit spartan by some standards, the Panamera reaches new heights of ergonomic excellence. Yes, there is actually room for a six-footer to find his way into the backseat and just in case a chilled glass of bubbly is called for, an optional refrigerated box is available. The bottomline is clear—with the Panamera Turbo, Porsche added two doors to its pedegree without losing an ounce of genetic glory.

  • The Minority Report: Volume II
A generation or two before Tiger Woods arrived, golf had a homespun jobs program that ushered minority players—such as, Lee Elder, Charlie Sifford, Calvin Peete, Jim Thorpe and Jim Dent—onto the golf course without the help of committees, foundations or organizations. “Black professionals early on learned because of the caddie programs,” says Joe Louis Barrow Jr., CEO of The First Tee program, the World Golf Foundation’s high-profile initiative to interest young people in the game of golf.
