Liberty National Golf Course

It’s difficult to describe how impressed I was by Liberty National. I got to play the kind of golf course I dreamed of as kid. Every single detail was taken into account so that my experience was extraordinary. The views of the New York City Skyline from the course and clubhouse are spectacular. The clubhouse cuisine rivals any top restaurant in the country and the amenities are to die for. The locker room is just phenomenal and the steam room is almost a football field in length. The Jacuzzi seems like a lap pool in many places and there’s a gorgeous waterfall right next to it. You get the sense that you’re visiting a great hotel—it’s just top notch in all aspects. And that’s just the club house. You fall in love with this place before you even step onto the golf course.

From what I’m told the Fireman family, who established Liberty National, developed it around the idea of creating a club that was exclusive. They only intended to invite their close friends. So their main focus was the clubhouse and it just so happens that there is a great golf course to top it off. The golf course, which will be hosting The Barclay’s Tournament this year, was meticulous. It seemed like the grass on the fairways had been cut with hand sheers. The course is only about four years old and the fairways were in better condition than a lot of the world’s top golf courses. I was almost afraid to hit from the fairway because I didn’t want to make a divot—it was that beautiful.

It’s a simple, reoccurring phrase many choose to toss around, unlike Nicklaus, as some philosophical one-liner, showcasing the depth of their mental aptitude. The command is straightforward: scope the land, see the shot and execute.
