In Search of the Quintessential Rolling Writer

The grasp of a pen for the first time, perhaps first officially allowed in the third or fourth grade, lends power we often take for granted. Not meant to be rubbed away, what issues from this instrument is considered binding, or in some instances, damning. The pen, though clearly a graduation from the fickle world of lead and wood, can evoke anxiety in that it does not cater to light matters or data we will later recant. Despite its grave bearing, the careful guardian of that special quill—one rarely lent, not even while still in its owner’s sights—bears the mark of finesse few can deny. So much more is that person’s caché should they favor hand carvings, jeweled settings or issuance from another continent. It is also important to note that honing a taste for writing instruments should not be done with haste; indeed, careful consideration and research are requisites for just the right fit. Herewith is but a sampling of options to equip you at the outset of your journey.
