Shots for Tots
White Lotus Vodka
Anyone who’s ever thrown back a few shots too many is probably familiar with the timeless down-home dictum: The best cure for any hangover is another drink. While we at the The Green Magazine would never stand behind such a capricious prescription, far be it from us to relegate this holistic jewel it to the realm of pure folklore. If another swig of single-malt makes the room stop spinning long enough for you to stumble out of the sack, who are we to judge? But rather than reaching for a therapeutic tumbler of fire-water once your body’s already gone judas-goat, why not start off with a drink that might help you to avoid an early morning bruising in the first place: White Lotus Vodka. Now before you get all teary-eyed and heap praise on us for recommending 80 proof vitamin water, for safety’s sake we must point out—White Lotus makes no guarantees that it does a body good. But this citrus accented spirit, made from corn and wheat harvested in the heartland, is packed with Vitamin B; a key component of nearly every hangover remedy on the market. And more important than White Lotus’ potentially restorative properties is the good its San Francisco-based manufacturer hopes to do in the philanthropic world. This fledgling outfit is not only committed to creating a healthier vodka, but also a healthier world. So, White Lotus’ packaging is made using only recycled materials and a chunk of its sales revenue goes straight to charities targeted at youth and the arts. And if that doesn’t tug at your heart strings, the vodka’s smooth, lightly floral taste should keep you coming back. So go ahead, order a few drinks more than you normally would; odds are if you’re sipping (we repeat: “sipping”) White Lotus, the next morning will be sunnier than you expect. If not, you can at least take consolation in the fact that a few of your dollars went toward making a brighter day for someone else.

I heard about this place in the West Village that all the celebrities and models go to.
