South beach is the pulse of miami. this palm tree-lined kaleidoscope of high fashion, medium-bending art and brightly-lit night life continues to attract legions of patrons year round. Meander away from the buzzing avenues of flashing lights and style and you’ll experience a more tranquil characteristic to this community. South Beach’s translucent, aqua marine colored water is carried up to the picturesque beach by the trade winds off the Atlantic Ocean. This natural wonder is something that tanned beachgoers and food connoisseurs can appreciate. The bevy of dishes created with the daily catches from the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico sate all five senses. Asia De Cuba and Delano are two restaurants that are making fine cuisine the new staple in South Beach.
Delano: Blue Door
The menu of Delano’s famed Blue Door looks strategically misplaced amidst Miami’s predominately “Latino Sabor” style restaurants. However, it’s dazzling array of French-infused dishes make it a mainstay along South Beach. Let your first choice be the Blue Door’s Big Ravioli—it will blindside you with flavor. Its Taro Root Mousseline coupled with a thin smattering of White Truffle Oil and Mushroom Cappuccino will make you want to shake the chef’s blessed hand. A great follow-up is the St. Jacques “Docedeleite”. As expected, the seafood here is top-of-the-line. The bed of Sautéed Scallops, Grilled Hearts of Palm, Dulce de Lecine and Wild Rice Popcorn will redefine your expectations of how seafood should taste. For the entrée, do yourself a favor and dine on the Homard Banana. This hefty catch of fresh Roasted Maine Lobster complimented with Caramelized Banana doused in Brown Butter and Cilantro Lime Sauce is heavenly. Continents are brought and niches are brought together with this dish.
