Time is Precious

This is your golf swing—or at least it should be according to the research of John Novosel. An inventor, business man and avid golfer, Mr. Novosel uncovered the secret to achieving the powerful and effortless swing that all of the top pros have mastered. After studying film footage of pga events over the last century, he recognized what made professionals swing so effectively: They had the right tempo. From the time of the takeaway to the downswing, the action was completed at the same pace for each one of their successful shots. While most amateurs average a swing that takes between 1.3 to 3.0 seconds, professionals swing quickly, with a time that falls somewhere between .93 to 1.20 seconds. To help jumpstart the rest of us, Mr. Novosel discusses the theory in detail in his book, Tour Tempo: Golf ’s Last Secret Revealed. The book is accompanied by a cd of carefully measured beats which a player can listen to while perfecting their swing. These lessons have been made even more accessible with the Tour Tempo player.
