You Had Me At "Organic."

If you've eaten, lived in, or visited any metropolitan city in the past year or two you've undoubtedly noticed that the word "organic," being attached almost ubiquitously to such items as beef, veggies, shoes, and soap without even a hint of justification. But we as Americans like to do "our part," so being an vegan vegetarian rock star who only eats organic and lives in brooklyn is basically ascending to the eighth ring of Buddhism now. With that said, the organic movement is drastically improving many aspects of how we eat and drink today. More people are searching for local ingredients instead of stocking up on that hormone injected t-bone or zucchini that they used to get from their supermarkets, and this helps pretty much everyone involved. So the logical next step is to figure out how we can feel good about ourselves while we get drunk. In walks Kanon Organic Vodka. Allow me to segway for a moment. Vodka had it's moment. Ordering a bottle of Grey Goose or Absolute for you're table once was the pinnacle of cool, a status symbol. And what's not to like about vodka, right? Everyone can enjoy boozing when all you taste is the concentrated juice mixer or a Red Bull side car. But vodka's meteoric rise would quickly come crashing down, just as rum had previously. I'm pretty sure it was Sasha Petraske who deemed vodka unusable in a real cocktail, and that was pretty much it, leaving tragically hip club goers and mixologists everywhere to search for the next big spirit. I'm pretty sure it went, Gin, Tequila, Mescal, Absinth, and now... beer? It went something like that at least.
